skin \ bones is a body of monumental paintings that excavates tree forms into psychological portraits of our most honest human states of vulnerability, resilience, interconnectivity, and growth. 

I believe we, as humans at our best, possess a powerful capacity for connection, emotion, and expression. However, societal pressures often force us into the opposite: to stay small, hoard our resources, and ignore our complexities. Trees as both individuals and forests unapologetically embody these qualities we're taught to suppress, offering us profound wisdom about authentic existence. 

Rendered on raw, unstretched canvas, the work is grounded in observational painting but shaped by gestural and expressive mark-making that mirrors the honesty of the subject matter. The monumental scale acknowledges the architectural grandeur of these ancient beings, while the unfinished edges speak to their, and our, vulnerabilities. 

I approach each piece as a quiet rebellion, a redirection of attention from the noise of modern life toward slowness, tactility, and wonder of my own humanity. The work invites viewers to confront these beings as equals, recognizing within themselves the same power, resounding tenderness, and magnificent interconnected nature of human existence. 

This exhibition will feature 10-15 major works, primarily large unstretched canvases (approximately 80" x 50"), strategically installed to create an immersive environment that invites viewers to slow down and look longer. The space will create an experience away from hyperconnectivity, creating a sanctuary for genuine reflection and emotional honesty.
