Anne Cullum is a visionary abstract painter who masterfully experiments with color, form, and texture. Her work delves deep into themes of personal growth, internal reflection, and spiritual pursuits, offering viewers a contemporary art experience that is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant.
In her thirties, Anne's distinctive pieces adorned galleries and gift shops across the United States. Despite her growing success, she made the courageous decision to step back from the bustling art world to dedicate herself to her young family. This hiatus was extended by a challenging battle with ovarian cancer. Today, triumphantly cancer-free and with her children grown, Anne has returned to her easel with renewed vigor and inspiration, seamlessly continuing her artistic journey as if she had never paused.
Anne Cullum's work is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring power of creativity. Her return to the art scene marks not just a continuation, but a profound evolution in her artistic expression.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
As a painter, my intention is to explore ideas of internal reflection, personal growth, and spiritual pursuit conveyed through abstract art with contemporary thought. I seek to invite the viewer beneath complex compositions, generating a visual curiosity to linger and encounter themselves within the context of each painting. I'm fascinated with utilizing irrational lines to construct an initial "problem" to solve through deconstruction and reconstitution of spaces and shapes until the final resultis achieved. Much of my work begins with charcoal and ink but primarily comprises acrylic and oil.
