“Collage à Trois” is an art exhibition featuring three talented artists, coming together to present three distinctively different approaches to collage. By definition, collage is “A piece of art made by gluing various different materials such as photographs and pieces of paper to a backing.” The methods for making collage art can be as varied as the different pieces, scraps, and materials used to make the resulting visual menageries. Savannah artist Christopher Nitsche has a one-person exhibition at Touché Gallery in Jacksonville. The show is a selection of toy and game parts found object sculptures and works on paper. For thirty years, Nitsche’s art has focused on metaphorical ship forms, invoking expressions of irony, satire, and personal contexts. Touché Gallery’s first solo exhibition is a retrospective of the career of Jeff Whipple. There will be selections of Whipple’s earliest art in the 1970s up to works made in 2022. Whipple’s drawings, paintings and sculpture feature photorealistic imagery on abstract backgrounds. His art has a three-line motif that makes the thousands of artworks he’s created since 1980 highly recognizable.
